PowerSchool is currently disabled as we are finalizing the school schedule. Students will be able to log into PowerSchool to view their schedules on Tuesday, September 5th at 3:00 pm. The school will NOT be providing paper copies of student schedules. It is imperative that all parents/guardians have a Parent PowerSchool account in order to access students’ attendance, grades, transcripts, and RYCOR (online financial system used for the completion of forms and fee payments).

If you do not have access to your child’s PowerSchool account, please contact

[email protected]

Drop and Add Procedure

Students will have an opportunity to request course changes beginning Wednesday, September 6th at 11:00 am. The link to the Drop and Add google form is located here. In the coming days, this link will also be found in the “2023-24 School Start Information” Tab at the top of the school website. NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE DUE TO TEACHER OR FRIEND REQUESTS. Priority will be given to Grade 12 students, based on graduation requirements. Students must fill out the drop and add form using their NLESD email address!

Deadline for requests: Friday, Sept. 8th at 12:30 pm.

Daily Schedule and Bell Times

Class Arrival

Students are expected to be in the building by 8:55 in the morning and 12:25 in the afternoon. This facilitates the timely start of classes at 9:00 and 12:30. By being late, students will miss valuable instructional time and impact the learning of others. If your child is late for excused reasons (eg. family issue, appointment), a note should accompany them when they arrive.

School Messenger-Safe Arrival System (notifying of student absence)

Holy Heart uses the School Messenger – SafeArrival system to record student absences. To create an account and learn how to update your child’s attendance, please view the following document:

School Messenger

Parking

● Parking is limited and primarily made available for school employees in the front of the building

● Students are NOT permitted to park in the front of the building or in the service entrance located at the back of the school

● Students are permitted, at their own risk, to park along the side of the building by the Theatre

Cafeteria Service

There will be NO cafeteria service this year.

Student Transportation / Bus Portal

The Bus Planner Parent Portal is now open and activated for your busing information. Parents who created an account last year can now login and view their child’s eligibility, and if eligible, view their transportation schedule for first day of school here:

Parent Bus Portal Login

Parents who have not already created an account (and wish to do so) can go in, create an account and add their child to their account at the above link as well.

Parents will need the following information in order to add their child:

1. Student Number (found on PowerSchool)

2. Student Date of Birth

3. School

4. Grade

Bus Courtesy Seat Requests

We will be taking requests for Courtesy Bus seating once all eligible students are seated first. Once we are aware of the availability of seats on each bus we will be able to issue courtesy seats. Please email completed Bus Courtesy Seat Request Form to [email protected] .

Demographic Forms

On the first day of school, students will receive their demographic information currently in PowerSchool. Students are asked to bring these home and parents/guardians will need to check that all information is accurate. Please highlight what information is incorrect, make the correct changes and have your child drop it off at the main office or to their Day 1, Period 1 teacher. We especially need the parent/guardian phone numbers and email addresses to be correct. You may also send changes to our school email [email protected]

Media Consent / Technology Agreement Forms

The above forms will be sent to families using the RYCOR system via PowerSchool. Further instructions will be emailed at a later date.

Lockers

Students may request lockers from their Day 1, Period 1 teacher on the first day of school. We do have plenty of lockers available so that students do not have to share. We recognize many students do not use or want a locker and it is not mandatory to request one.

Extracurricular Activities

We encourage students to sign up for group activities they are interested in or try something new. Being involved in school activities makes for a much better high school experience. Please speak with your child(ren) and encourage them to participate!

Allergies/Medical & Forms (Puffers/Epipens/Other Medications).

Allergies:

● We have students and staff at HHM with severe life threatening allergies to: all fish products, all tree nut products, peanuts including peanut butter and all peanut butter products, and eggs.

● Nutella products will not be permitted.

● Since it is very difficult to distinguish between peanut butter and Wow/Soy butter, the NLESD does not permit any food items containing these ingredients in schools.

● It will be very important for us to work together to help create a safe learning environment for all. If your child has a diagnosed allergy by a medical doctor, please email [email protected] and a person will be in touch with you.

If applicable, please complete the necessary medication forms for puffers / Epipens / other medications and administration. Please have your child return the completed forms to the school on Wednesday, September 6th. Please contact the main office to arrange for medications, puffers or epi-pens to be dropped off at the school. These forms are available at the following links:
