Novel Cinema 3221 is an optional course in English that examines film and literature studies, specifically in how they join and part company as genre. Novel Cinema takes film study as a focus by critically examining short stories, novels and plays and their cinematic equivalents. The film adaptation is explored in depth in the AV room once the original source has been discussed as a literary text in class. The film and literature components of the course are weighted equally and a reading list is made available to students prior to the academic year. Two credits in English are awarded upon successful completion of Novel Cinema 3221. Novel Cinema 3221 is a local course, but application has been made to The Department of Education to include it as a provincially offered course of studies.
