Advanced Placement English 4222 allow students to study several representative works from various periods and genre. They will concentrate on works of recognized literary merit, carefully chosen so that British, American and Canadian literary works are represented. While most of the literature will be post-fifteenth century, students may study earlier works of literature as well as the bible and Greek and Roman mythologies in an attempt to better understand allusions to classical and biblical texts, themes and characters. The expectation is that students will read widely from suggested lists that extend the reading and discussion of the intensive classroom context. Independent study and reading is essential to success in AP 4222, which should be taken concurrently with English 3201 in level III. AP 4222 is taken in addition to the proscribed curriculum.
